My name is sophie and I'm from Austria. I finish school this year and my main topic is 'Johnny Cash'. I am looking for details about his influence in Country Music an his impact and attitude on social value for ages but I can't find anything usefull. Could somebody helb me with that? I work at Alcatraz and the other day a visitor from Ireland sang a song to me that he said was a Johnny Cash song entitled "Don't climb the fence Joe Bowers". No one on the island had heard of it before. Joe Bowers was the first "escape attempt" from Alcatraz in 1936, but many believe it was a suicide because he climbed a fence -- in front of a guard -- that had a sheer 75 foot drop to the water and rocks below and therefore couldn't possibly escape that way. I can't find this song anywhere, but it may be possible that a song was released in the UK that was not released in the US.

I've been friends with Merle for years and he works real hard at it.

I am selling a special instrument that I received years ago as a gift from Gregg Allman. It is at '66 Gibson Hummingbird that has been autographed by Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon, Paul Rodgers and Clarence Gatemouth Brown. Can anybody tell me if Johnny ever recorded the song "I recall a Gypsy woman? I cannot find a recording of that. It was originally a hit of Don Williams and Johnny's brother Tommy also sings it.
